OPENING CONCERT ANNOUNCED!!!

THE FRAY TO OPEN CHARLOTTE’S NEW UPTOWN AMPHITHEATRE AT THE MUSIC FACTORY ON JUNE 13TH

Live Nation also to Open Fillmore Music Venue in the North Carolina Music Factory, Expanding Its Venue Platform in one of the Nation’s Fastest Growing Concert Markets

Los Angeles, CA (April 1, 2009) – Live Nation announced today a long term agreement with The Ark Group to operate, manage and exclusively book a new 5,000 capacity outdoor amphitheatre, Uptown Amphitheatre at the Music Factory, and a new 2,000 capacity Fillmore music venue at the new 35 acre multiple use entertainment development, the North Carolina Music Factory at Uptown Village, in the heart Charlotte.

Live Nation expects to book approximately 25 shows annually at the Uptown Amphitheatre and approximately 80 shows annually at the Fillmore, with Live Nation Tickets providing ticketing services for the new venues.  Multi-platinum band The Fray will play the very first concert at Uptown Amphitheatre on June 13th.  Tickets for The Fray go on-sale Friday, April 3rd exclusively at www.livenation.com .

The NC Music Factory, which will house more than 300,000 square feet of diverse indoor and outdoor entertainment, is located in the historic fourth ward area immediately adjacent to the Charlotte central business district, one of the most dynamic urban centers in the south east.

“The Uptown Amphitheatre and the Fillmore complete our venue portfolio in Charlotte, the country’s 20th most populated market, giving us a great new club to nurture relationships with up and coming artists, a mid-sized amphitheater and our existing Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre,” said Wilson Howard, President Southeast, Live Nation.  “This gives us more options for artists and will result in better entertainment variety for Charlotte music fans.”

The Uptown Amphitheatre is situated in a beautiful outdoor setting with soaring views of the Charlotte skyline, elevated lawn seating, traditional outdoor seating, premium box seats with food and beverage service, and an indoor VIP area with private restrooms, private bar and views of the stage.  The concession area has a “bourbon street” feel with multiple permanent restrooms with pedestal sinks, full length mirrors and private stalls.

The Fillmore Charlotte, which will be housed in a historic textile mill, will be themed in the tradition of the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco.  The original Fillmore has distinguished itself as a favorite among artists and fans alike because of the unique qualities of the theatre’s ambience, feel and traditions.  The new Fillmore will feature the iconic music venue’s trademark décor, including red oak hardwood floors, red painted interior, vintage posters of legendary live music performances, magnificent chandeliers throughout, state-of-the-art lighting and sound, as well as, stadium style tiers that create great sight lines from anywhere in the venue, a VIP area and more.  The venue is also set to open in June.

Along with the opening of the new "Gateway to the Uptown Village", Noah Lazes capped the announcements with news of some major tenants that will begin to populate the entertainment spaces next summer.

THE FAMOUS FILLMORE MUSIC HALL COMES TO CHARLOTTE

The NC Music Factory announced Thursday that Live Nation will open a Fillmore Music Hall in the entertainment complex in uptown's Fourth Ward. The concert promoter will also exclusively book the music factory's 5,000-seat outdoor boutique amphitheater.

“Having the Fillmore brings a world-class recognition to Charlotte,” said Noah Lazes of ARK Group, which is developing the Music Factory. “The Fillmore is arguably the most respected club venue in the world, by artists as well as fans.”

And with Live Nation operating the venue, “it's the best. It's like having Microsoft running your company,” Lazes said.

The original Fillmore opened in San Francisco in 1965 and attracted such music acts as The Who, Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead. Since then, Fillmore venues have opened in New York, Miami, Detroit and Denver.

Lazes says the 2,000-seat venue is slated to open in late spring or early summer.

The famed Fillmore Music Hall is joining the NC Music Factory in 2009 and will feature state of the art lights and sound to host 150+ concerts/year.
